Many families affected by autism can help to influence government policy to ensure that people with autism spectrum disorders are respected and supported and receive the same rights and entitlements as others.
Spearheading this work in parliament is the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Autism (APPGA) and urging your MP to join this group is a very effective way of getting autism on the agenda.
The APPGA is a group of MPs and Peers (some are parents of children with autism) who are active on the issue of autism. The growing size of the membership of this group is a strong indication of the level of support in Parliament. Please encourage your MP to join the APPGA to show their support and to ensure they receive regular information and updates from the group.

You can check if your MP is a member by clicking on the link to the Group’s official page here. If you don’t know who your MP is you can find out quickly and easily using your post code by clicking on the locata website.
You will also find your MP’s email address here, so if your MP isn’t a member why don’t you send them an email, asking them to join?
