With a glorious sunny day, the first ever Royal Parks Half Marathon could not have enjoyed a better launch!
Autism Speaks is so proud of the 49 runners who chose to run for us and also of the runners who trained tirelessly, but were unable to join the run due to injury (and in two cases, celebratory pregnancies!).
Our runners have raised over £36,000 towards research into the causes of autism. We weren't expecting such an incredible sum and everyone at Autism Speaks is terribly grateful for the efforts of our team. Because our running costs have been funded by The Shirley Foundation, this means that ALL of the money raised will be funding research that will bring us closer to finding support and interventions that will improve the quality of life for those living with autism.
We feel we have made some real friends. To them and the family and friends who came to support and cheer, we give our warmest thanks ...and see you next year?!
