GREAT NORTH RUN - Sunday 5 October 2008

Lady limbering up to run for Autism SpeaksWe had 7 runners in the Great North Run - who all did a fabulous job for us on Sunday!  Comments received back so far include:

“I did it in 2 hours 30. Found it very hard towards the end. Set off a bit fast I think. Would definitely do it again though, it was a really good day.”

“The first 100 yards were fantastic - after that I really struggled.  However, I managed a time of 1 hour 38 minutes and then jogged another 6 miles home as I missed my "lift" at the finish line.   All in all it was a great day, never to be repeated though.”

“The run was fantastic, the body from the waist up was faultless, the atmosphere was tremendous, the feet had no probs at all.  The legs were very bad to me. Ran the whole distance with calves like lead bar the first 1/2 mile.  However, still did a very respectable 1 hour 55 mins and I feel good now. Even played footy last night. Thanks for the opportunity to run after 22 years absence.  It was a fab day. I loved it!!”

“The run as always was fantastic - that is why I have to run every year.......My time was 3 hours 3 mins I think but it might be a bit slower as I was so overcome at finishing I forgot to turn my stop watch off!!! Not bad considering I trained for 5 weeks!!!   The weather was good, just  a bit too sunny, but nowhere near as hot as it has been in the past. I didnt see anyone else but then again they were all probably on the train home as I was setting off.”

Our warmest congratulations and thanks go to: Cathy, Paul, Ed, Chris, Bronn, David, Jimmy and Gemma - you all did a fabulous job!!
