LADIES RAISE £12,000 AT SPARKLING CLIVEDEN EVENT
12 July 2007 (rev October 2007)
Henley-based medical research charity Autism Speaks is well on the way to its latest fundraising target thanks to the generosity of guests at an event on 10 July.
Over 50 ladies were at Cliveden for a champagne reception and welcome by Jane Asher followed by lunch. An auction of treat experiences and products included a signed pair of Darcey Bussell’s ballet shoes and tickets for Joseph and a West End meal. Stylists from Tramp2Vamp, the team behind Channel 4’s Ten Years Younger were on hand to give tips on dressing according to shape.
The event raised £12,000 which is a significant step towards the always pressing need for funds, says event organiser, Lynn Hart: “Autism Speaks is the only UK charity set up solely to fund research into autism, yet the disorder affects 1 in 100 school-age children. We sponsor work all over the country at hospitals and institutions and that obviously doesn't come cheap, so the Ladies Lunch has made a very welcome contribution to our ongoing efforts - plus it was great fun!”
