Great North Run

The Great North Run is the world’s most popular half marathon and certainly the biggest half-marathon in the UK. Participants run between Newcastle upon Tyne and South Shields - the run was devised by former Olympic 10,000m bronze medallist and BBC Sports Commentator Brendan Foster with the first ever half-marathon staged in 1981.There were then 12,000 runners and today there are as many as 53,000.

Cheering points
We will be delighted to send T-shirts and cheering sticks to your family and friends who will be there on the day to cheer you on. Then you can easily spot them!
